Vision Board creation

January, it's the time to review and reset. I have done it for quite a while.
I would write down my goal with little details in the journal, review it few times during the year if I remember.
It’s like a reminder to myself where I want to head to, how do I want to feel.
Especially during lockdown period, we can be very distance to someone, but getting too close to others (the one live together). Friendship, family dynamic can be a bit difficult to maintain.
When I read my goal in mid-June, it reminds me how I want to feel about my relationship.
Then all make-up story and flight is disappeared.
This exercise also gives me some space to re-think what I really want or focus on in my life.
As you know, we always lose our direction when changes happen.
Last year, I start making my Vision Board.
It’s more fun, like a little girl attends an art class, cutting a picture in the magazine, drawing something randomly. It's good to I invest more time and emotion in this goal setting things.
It's no longer a mechanical exercise, only words or sentences written down in the Journal, meet SMART criteria.
How I create my Vision board
I would sit in a quiet space for few minutes to calm down my mind, then answering below questions with keywords. Write all down in a paper, no explanation or details needed.
It will have more keywords coming up which may not relate to below questions, just put it all down.
- How do I want to feel about myself this year?
- How do I want my relationship with myself?
- How do I want to feel with my family, my husband?
- How do I want to present myself at work?
- How do I want to connect with my client?
- How do I want to feel about my body ?
Then I read the papers few times, like putting all keywords in my subconscious mind naturally, not forcing.
In the next few days, I would collect pictures or photos in Instagram, Pinterest, books or magazine which it could match my keywords.
When it's ready, I layout all the pictures and photos next to my keywords sheet.
I hold a picture in my hand, connect and immerse with one of my keywords, visualize myself in the picture.
Totally connect the picture and keyword into my future, feel the feeling.
Finally, I stick all the pictures in the cardboard or photo frame and put in my work space.
I look at it everyday, do whatever I need to do, the rest I leave it to the universe.
You may ask 'is it work'. One of my example is about my driving.
I can drive but I am so scared. When I sit in the driver seat, it already trigger my panic button. I use a lot of energy to control my mind and focus on the road. I feel so exhausted and nervous.
Last year, I purposely put a picture related to driving in the board, testing whether the vision board really work.
When I look at the picture, I imagine myself driving in a very relaxing manner naturally. I did it whenever I look at the board. Since then, I drive with more confident and enjoy it more than before.
This year, I do put some of my funny photos in the vision board to remind myself 'I am beautiful'.
Here is the summary how to build your vision board
1. Write down keywords – how you want to feel about .... in this year
2. Collect pictures in magazines or social media
3. Connect the pictures with your keywords, feel the feelings
4. Stick it cardboard and hang it in the area where you can see it everyday
- if you can't do it, you can make it as mobile wallpaper. You can still see it any time.
5. Visualize yourself in the picture / photos
